Summary:
In this article, you’ll learn how to use the Source condition in Growmatik automations to create UTM targeting and referral targeting. This condition is useful when you want to target the audience referred by a specific website or specific marketing campaign.
There are two different types of sources in this condition:
- UTM Parameter: UTM parameters are used as pieces of text attached to the end of a URL to help with tracking the campaign traffic. You can set utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campain, utm_term and utm_content to a particular value. You can use this type of source to create UTM segmentation.
- Domain: This allows you to target specific people who enter your site from a particular domain and create referral segmentation.
Defining a UTM parameter as the source:
- Click on the Source condition.
- Select the UTM Parameter.
- Select a UTM type from the drop-down menu. You can select among utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campain, utm_term and utm_content.
- Enter the value for your UTM parameter.
For example, setting the utm_campaign to christmas allows you to target the people who enter your site with the following URL: https://example.com/?utm_campaign=christmas - Click on the Save button.
Defining a domain as the source:
- Click on the Source condition.
- Select the Domain option.
- Enter a domain name.
For example, setting the Domain parameter to facebook.com executes the rule for people who enter your site by clicking on your website link from facebook.com - Click on the Save button.
Note: Upon clicking in the Domain text field, you’ll see a list of your current top domain sources that lead traffic to your website along with the percentage of traffic referred by each.
